The major components we examine during an MOT Pentraeth are:
- Registration plates
- VIN number
- Brake system
- Steering and Suspension
- Lights
- Tyres and wheels
- Seat belts
- Horn
- Exhaust and emissions
- Windscreens and mirrors
You can few the whole list on the government webpage or in our testing station.
After a thorough examination, we issue one of the two types of certificates based on the results:
VT20 (Pass): If your car has only a minor or no discrepancy, we will issue a VT20 certificate.
VT30 (Fail): We will issue a VT30 certificate if your vehicle has major or dangerous faults. In such cases all issues must be resolved, and a partial re-test must be carried out afterwards.
Car tyres in our inventory
Summer tyres: Their unique structure and shallow tread depth help them maintain shape and run comfortably during the warmer months. These tyres are best suitable for cars when the temperature goes above 7°C.
Winter tyres: The roads in the winter season get covered with ice, slush and snow. To tackle such situations, winter tyres are manufactured, providing extra traction. The flexibility of these tyres helps them grip the slippery road better and do not harden even if the temperatures drop. Choose them if you reside in an area where temperatures are usually below 7°C.
All-season tyres: If you live in or do not frequently drive in an area that suffers from extremely hot or cold weather conditions, then these tyres can be a good option. They have qualities of both summer and winter tyres and help you avoid the hassle of replacing tyres with changing seasons.
4x4 tyres: They are manufactured for SUVs and similar vehicles to provide additional steering accuracy on different terrains. They have larger tread blocks and deeper tread patterns. They are also larger than regular car tyres, so they are capable to carry the weight of these larger, heavier vehicles. We have three varieties of 4x4 tyres in our stock, i.e. highway terrain, mud terrain and all-terrain tyres.
Run-Flat tyres: These tyres are designed to resist the impact of sudden pressure loss after a puncture and allow the driver to carry on driving for about 50 miles at a limited speed to reach a safe place or a nearby garage.
Performance tyres: These are designed to offer enhanced handling and traction to sports and luxury cars. Their wider contact patches, unique designs and materials provide ultimate cornering precision, shorter braking distances, heat protection and aquaplaning protection even at high speeds.
